Fantasy Gay Pride ~ Day 8

One area of Fantasy Gay Pride 2017 is based on the Valdemar books by Mercedes Lackey.
These books are richly populated with complicated social orders, powerful forces, magical creatures and intense story lines in a well laid out universe and history. *

We will be celebrating all things noble, mystical and magical @ two events today, September 1.

2 pm SLT finds us in our medieval/fantasy best dancing in the courtyard of the Castle to a variety of fantasy and world music with Tamlorn Cauterhaugh Wood. There will be a costume contest for "Best in Medieval / Fantasy", so wear your robes, gowns, crowns, wings and express your fantasy best! No costume? No problem! Come and join us in the dance!

Tamlorn returns to the stream @ 5 pm SLT to once again dazzle us with rich fantasy music. There will be no costume contest at this dance, but we still encourage you to express your fantasy self at its finest ~ This is FANTASY Gay Pride, after all!

If you haven't explored a fantasy persona in SL, feel free to talk to the folk you'll see at the dances. Most of us are fae, elven, or magical creatures all the time. We love to share ideas about how to develop a fantasy avatar and where to find the best costumes, wings and magical ways to express yourself!

*For the purposes of Fantasy Gay Pride, we explored the social structure of the cultures in the books, which mirror cultures in the real life world. To quote directly from Wikipedia:

While sexuality is not depicted in graphic detail, sexual orientation is explored. Both the Shin'a'in and Tayledras cultures view homosexuality as a normal, positive part of their culture.
In the country of Valdemar, which has the creed "There is no one true way", all sexual orientations are officially acceptable. However, some people in Valdemar disapprove and can be actively hostile towards same-sex relationships. This is explored in more detail in the Last Herald's Mage Series, in which the main character is homosexual. , In Karse, it does not seem to be persecuted, but it also seems to be something which is not actively spoken about or looked at closely.
In Rethwellan historically, homosexuality was considered highly taboo, and the dominant religious cult in the kingdom seemed to very actively persecute it; by the time of the series "present" this may have moderated to strong social disapproval.  ~ That sounds a lot like the real world, doesn't it?
