Fantasy Faire Day 13

Something for the Guys
The constant complaint from my male friends about every sales event is that "there is nothing for the guys!" There are things for the guys at Fantasy Faire. You just have to be persistent and look for them. The guys' stuff may be at the back of a store and you may have to walk passed a lot of girly things before you find them, but it's there!

Developing your personal fantasy look goes far beyond medieval court raiment. Kilts, kaftans, togas, gypsy wear, turbans or top hats and 1000 other styles could all be considered Fantasy. It just depends on what you put with them and your imagination. Think of changing your hairstyle or wearing a hat, cloak or jewelry you wouldn't ordinarily wear. Put on some wings or horns. Add a tail or hooves.Try a new species like the Hippocampus below or like the Dinkies I mentioned in yesterday's blog

Fantasy Faire Day 12

Kitty, Kitty, Kitty!
Fantasy Faire provides a wonderful opportunity to get in touch with your wild side. If you've been playing with the idea of trying a smaller avatar for size or for changing to a more wild look without going full-out Furry, you might try these out. Fantasy Faire continues till May 5.

1. For those who just want to look amazing as you walk through the sim, try one of the gachas containing pets.

There are shoulder or head pets. Others can fly or walk beside you as my Companion, Aslan, from Jinx does.
FF location Faireholm
2. ND/MD offers skins and shapes to adapt your regular avatar to its most ferociously feline. Available in 6 realistic colors for male or 4 for female, a skin and shape change allows you to wear your regular wardrobe. I'm showing the special Fantasy Faire purple edition, which includes a white hair, outfit and leg warmers (body tattoos not included). Each regular kit includes ears, tail, whiskers, and a minimal fitted mesh outfit.
[Classic, AK, Belleza, Catwa, Maitreya, Omega, Signature, Slink, Vista]

3. For endearing sweetness, you can't outdo a Dinkie. These popular little avatars are available in male or female and a variety of realistic cat or rabbit colors. ( Available at either MP or HERE.) They are about 1/6 normal avatar size with full mesh bodies. They work with normal AOs and poseballs, though they prefer kitty sized clothing like this Olwen dress and sandals from Little 2 Large.

Fantasy Faire Day 11

Nightshade Blossoms

The scent of sakura blossoms fills the night air. The light from the beacon tower plays with shadows as it slowly illuminates first one spot and then another.

Exotic goods from throughout the world and the fantasy realms fill the stores in this quiet little village @ Fantasy Faire. One gets the impression that these white washed houses have been here since time began. Walk the tiled pathways and contemplate the serenity of  the scene as you donate a few L$ to the kiosks in support of Relay for Life. Or buy a Hunt Hud and enjoy the Quest. [See yesterday's blog for info on the Quest]

My outfit is a RFL item from Sakka's Studio. It is a one piece that looks layered. The Hire Shawl is separate. A Sashiba Fan and Asian shoes are also available. Interestingly enough, you won't find this outfit in Nightshade Blossoms, but on Midas.

Fantasy Faire Day 10

The Lair of Lantoris
Chapter 1 of the Quest has begun in the Fairelands. This popular activity is guaranteed to have you looking at Fantasy Faire in a whole new way. You will be captivated by the complexity of the builds, puzzled by the riddles you'll encounter as you move through the Faire lands and totally overwhelmed by the prizes you'll receive at the completion of the Quest.

You can begin your quest by purchasing a Hunt Hud at any of the major landing points in Fantasy Faire
You can get the basic hud for a L$250 donation, but I really recommend getting the Deluxe set for L$350. In addition to the things in the basic hud package, the Deluxe set comes with two complete Travelers's outfits, one for males and one for females from Silvan Moon Designs .
Remember, 100% of the purchase price for the Quest huds is a donation to Relay for Life.

Wear the hud and the companion included in the box. You must be wearing the hud in order to receive hints and to record your progress through the various parts of the Quest.
You won't be able to see your companion at first, but he will appear once you have completed the first assignment on the hud. He may or may not be of help as you make your way through the various challenges. If you purchase the deluxe set, you'll need to open the clothing box in a sandbox or on property where you have rez rights.

Chapter 2 will be activated in a few days. In the meantime, good luck in your travels!

Fantasy Faire Day 9

Dept. of Discarded Curiosities
Wednesday @ Fantasy Faire, I joined a LitFest Tour and Writing Challenge group as they visited the Dept. of Discarded Curiosities
The idea behind the tours is to explore a sim and write a short story inspired by the sim.
A facilitator takes a group around and asks questions designed to spark story ideas. The sim was interesting and the special music set by DJ, Astoria Luminos, was perfect to create a mood. Some amazing stories have come from these sessions. You can hear them being read at FantasyFaireRadioSL

If you want to try your hand at writing about the Faire but don't care to be part of a group or find that the tour times don't work for you, there are self-guided writing tours available in Trollhaugen, or by clicking HERE. You will receive a packet of LMs and story prompts to get you started.  You can submit your finished works in the mailbox near the prompts or at the email listed on the webpage.

There is something very familiar about this build. It resembles the inside of my mind: partial memories, snippets of song, bizarre dreams and oh, so many books! There are pretty things as well: rainbows, glitter, pixie dust and unicorns. The stores are a bit "different" in DDC. One has find the doors in the upside down houses and climb over and around piles of books that comprise the rest of the shops. Just follow the paths and you should be fine.

I got totally distracted by the Pathway of Posters. It's comprised of fliers and posters from past Fantasy Faires, as well as hunt posters and performance announcements from many years and venues in SL. In a way, the pathway encompasses my experiences in SL, a series of challenging events and fun times leading from one to another through a decade of change.
Hmmmm... sounds like the possible start of a story. Excuse me. I have some writing to do.
