100 Ways to Creep You Out

I'd like to look inside Princess Aii's head sometime. Her mind must be a fascinating place!

Centipedes can be considered the penultimate nightmare or a marvel of engineering. There are estimated to be over 8000 types of centipedes worldwide with 3000 of them being uniquely identified. Depending on the species, a centipede can have as few as 15 pairs of legs, or as many as 171 pairs. Regardless of the species, centipedes always have an odd number of leg pairs, so they never have exactly 100 legs. All centipedes are predators and are unique in having poison in their leg tips.

The latest from +Aii+ is just about guaranteed to give you nightmares. The animated mesh tail and additional horns, claws, legs and pinchers are very well done. It comes with a hud that allows 11 main colors, 11 accent colors, 12 colors for legs, 7 colors for pinchers and 9 tattoo colors + a tintable one . It comes with an AO for the legs and tail. You can wear your regular AO to animate your upper body. It comes with Omega appliers for the tattoos.


I did have a glitch when trying to use my system head with this avi. It didn't want to cooperate with the mesh and gave me that lovely buggy-eyed look we occasionally get when adding mesh to a non-mesh avi, so I do recommend using a mesh head.
In her release notes, Aii said this was the first, so expect more beautiful bug ugly avis to come.

Happy Solstice/Merry Christmas!

I found a suitably impressive location to take pictures, Morphe. All the buildings are for sale including the wonderful Cathedral. [Yes, I really was flying in the vault.] It's really worth walking through the sim if you like medieval architecture. It's very well done and has a wonderful period stream playing.

Totally Top Shelf ~ Black Krampus

Those of you who have been following me for a while know I'm rather fond of demons. If you've never heard of the Krampus, you will. He's a hot commodity this year! He's a demon who is the counterpart of Santa.
Krampus takes care of the BAD kids. [My refrigerator has been covered with Krampus magnets for the last five years. I really don't like bad kids and it's a good reminder!] There's a Krampus film due out this weekend which looks destined to be a cult classic and Krampus has engendered at least one hunt and this shopping event in SL.





Under a suitably gloomy sky in a snowbound forest, you'll find wonderfully dark and gothic items for your holiday needs. The uninitiated may feel they've slipped through into Halloween Town, but I loved it!

Just a reminder...

The world has had a tremendous shock this weekend and we all feel the need to express our pain, outrage and sorrow. The Second Life community is just as real as any other community. Many of us "know" people through SL who may have been in harm's way and are praying that our friends are safe and well.

Reach out to each other and don't forget to express the joy that your SL friends bring to your life, the love you feel for them and the hope that what we do here in SL will help bring global communication and understanding.

If you wish a tangible way to express your feelings, donate to the Red Cross or inworld, attend one of the many fund raising dances or other activities designed to show support for those who are feeling the brunt of the pain.

 Many SL designers have expressed their feelings through creating art, clothing, flags, etc with support messages for the people of Paris. Most of these items are available free on MP or in the stores. One of those designers is Elisa Cabassoun, who made the "Pray for Paris" dress I was wearing at a Remember Paris party. The dress is available free at the Roots & Wings store. [Boots not included]


 








I know that my wearing a dress in SL won't make a difference to the people of Paris, but the reminder is important for me.
Many thanks to my friends who reached out to me this week, wept with me, held me and reminded me that there is more good than evil in the world.

New from +Aii+

Another new look from +Aii+ the Kagun Garment

This is my take on Kagun. I had to do some homework to find out more about this manga character. Kagun is androgynous-looking  and is a scientist who can bring the dead back to life. He's also an educator. In battle he uses a sword, which I interpreted as possibly being a laser scalpel.

Aii's outfit is cute, not at all androgynous and very sexy.
It comes with a cape which can be worn or not. The cape comes rigged or unrigged and with a scripted option so that the arms will stay inside the confines of the cape regardless of the AO or pose you choose. Braided ribbons, pearls and flexy pieces give this outfit movement and add interest.

The system stockings are included, as are appliers for TMP bodies. The toes of the stockings are open so that you can use them with your clawed feet.
I decided to be guided by the description of Kagun I'd found online and added black boots.







After a good session in the lab, every scientist knows that the research must be recorded and reported or it never happened. It's chilly in my library, so the cape was a welcome addition.

From +Aii+ at the Fantasy Gacha Carnival

The latest round of the Fantasy Gacha Carnival opens November 7. This round's theme is "Silver, Gold ~ Angels and the dark side of the Moon"
  +Aii+ has some wonderful masks and jewelry in the machines.

Based on the Tsukiyomi myth*, these are truly magical. The beads float around the head as though they are in orbit. The masks are resizable. All pieces will be available in both gold and silver with a variety of stone and mask colors.

Roots & Wings for November

There are some really pretty new dresses at Roots & Wings this week.
Designer, Eliza Cabassoun,  used some of her gorgeous photos to texture the dresses and coordinated Slink Mid heels (sold separately). The dresses are mesh in the standard 5 sizes.

Beginning in November

The Forgotten Game
A new round of Fair Play has begun. The designers are turning to thoughts of cold weather. Longer dresses and a few fur cloaks have joined the usual offerings of fantasy clothing and armor.

Designer Showcase

There's a new round of Designer showcase as well... found this cute sweater dress and boots that seemed to be made for each other. I don't wear "mundane" clothes often. Most of the things in my inventory would be considered costumes by the mainstream SL community, so when I do buy something, you know I'm really impressed by the style, textures and workmanship.

Firestorm Spooky Nights Hunt
If you use the Firestorm viewer and you're looking for a really easy hunt, check out this one. It just started on Halloween and goes through November 30. It was organized by Spooky Klaar, who does some of the best grid-wide hunts in SL, and 150 designers have contributed to the prizes. Halloween Happenings week of the 23rd

Halloween night approaches and the ghosts, goblins and creative spirits are partying in Second Life. The other Halloween events I've listed this month continue till the big day, so check my earlier posts for even more places to check out.

1. Cupcake Island Halloween Village

3. Fantasy Collective

Mid October and Second Life is preparing for Halloween

I spent the weekend doing all sorts of interesting activities that had a slightly dark edge...

FC Dark Magic Dance

Faery Crossing does all kinds of good work with new SL residents. There are regular dances on Mondays @ 12 and Fridays @4 slt. The picture is of a special dance venue for one held Saturday. Pastel Goth Event
This one was a struggle for me. Somehow, in my mind, "Pastel" and "Goth" just don't occur in the same universe, but I gave it a try.

There were some interesting things to see there. Not the least of which were the little blond, pink-cheeked "Goths" in their pastel cutie dresses. For me, putting pastel paint on a skull doesn't make it Gothic... or desirable.
The best part of my visit was wearing my Monster Heels from +Aii+. I've been wearing them all weekend to all kinds of activities and even to a formal ball and I love their cheery little teeth! 2nd Burn SL's tribute to Burning Man

Fallen Gods Anniversary Fallen Gods is an institution among fantasy lovers in Second Life. Alia Baroque, the "skin carver", makes wonderful fantasy skins of all kinds and colors and has a network of other creators who make clothing and accessories to compliment them.

From now till October 24, Fallen Gods is celebrating it's 8th year . There will be special activities, free goodies and a contest to select the best Male and Female wearing the FG skins. [My entry is above. Moon Dresses from Roots & Wings

Some lovely new gowns from Roots & Wings. They come in a variety of muted colors and have a very nice overskirt of semi-transparent fabric which gives an almost magical effect.
They come with a cute matching headpiece (not shown)

 

I love the simplicity of this gown. It makes a statement without being overdone.  I chose the black and silver because I was trying for the essence of moonlight. Rich purple or red and gold might suit you better.








There's a special promotional price on all colors of the gown till October 19. If you're looking for something to wear to a Halloween event without doing the traditional witch or vampire, these gowns fill the bill nicely and I know for a fact that this one works well with a pointed hat and short cape.

The Nightmare Event is open!

Whether you're looking for fascinating goodies to add to a Halloween costume or you just like a really good haunted adventure, the Nightmare Event is the place to go!

There are amazing things for sale on the upper level of the sim. If you take the teleporter at the center down to the next level, you can pick up a hud for the Nightmare Event Pumpkin Hunt and then the fun begins!

In order to receive the free gifts displayed at many of the shops on the upper level, you have to wear the hud while hunting for 25 pumpkins. You then go through an amazing haunted/freaky/unsettling sim and a huge maze to find the pumpkins.







At the end of the day, it's all about the good things ~ getting home to your own haunted house with a pile of goodies from a hunt, a cuddly new Kitsune, and a new phobia (I'm now afraid of high stone walls and retracing my steps over and over again in a maze while hunting for the last illusive pumpkin. )






I had the honor of participating in a survey earlier this year. We were asked to rank a bunch of fears and phobias such as insects, being out of control, hospitals, clowns... you get the picture: those things that really creep you out. The creepiest ones appear in this event and they're very well done!

New line from Roots & Wings

Something a little different from Roots & Wings
The shop is moving and the new store has three levels of fashion with a spacious photo gallery on the ground floor. There's an in-store pumpkin hunt with nice prizes going on now.
