Fantasy Faire ~ Untamed Ink

A Poem from UNTAMED INK

In a town drawn in black and white,

every word was law, every wrong made right.

If it wasn’t printed, it did not exist.

Truth was whatever he chose to twist.

He owned the ink.

He owned the page.

He caged the world in a paper cage,

smiling streets in crooked line,

every soul by his design.

He grew bored of his perfect game,

so he called a thing with no true name,

asked for power, asked for more,

asked to own the world he tore.

The Devil smiled. No deal was made.

It simply opened what he’d caged.

From below, where silence slept,

something stirred the town had kept.

Great arms of ink dragged through the street,

painting truth where lies would meet.

You can’t print what won’t obey.

Ink remembers anyway.

and a clowder of the Basement Kittehs.

 
To say it was "controlled chaos" is being generous,

but everybody seemed to be having a good time 

and were donating either to keep the miscreants

locked up or to let them go.

 

All donations went to Relay for Life, so it was a win for all concerned.

Fantasy Faire ~ Amon Galadrann

• What can you do on a sleepless night? When Fantasy Faire is open, there is an obvious answer to that question!  
• The Fairelands are somewhat less crowded between midnight and 6 am slt. It's a good time to explore. 

• I opened my Fantasy Faire 2026 Teleport Hud (available at all the major landing points throughout the Fairelands), pointed my cursor and found myself in Amon Galadrann,  an ancient land occupying the space between where light meets shadow, where nightmares can be dreams and dreams can be nightmares. 
• The main landing zone is high above ground level across a sky bridge from the Temple. It's a lovely region that will definitely give you your daily 10K steps. There are stairways...and more stairways...and yet more stairways... There are stores hidden away along the walkways surrounding the Temple, as well as in the Elven village at the bottom. 
• I reached the village just as the sun was rising and it was glorious! Enjoy your visit!

Fantasy Faire ~ The Golden Hour Region and the Fairechylde

• The Golden Hour is the region where I spend most of my time during Fantasy Faire. There are quiet spots like Hugh's Cave for literature events (top 2 pictures)...

       ... and there is the FAIRECHYLDE!

• The Fairechylde is a flying party ship which provides almost continuous entertainment during Fantasy Faire.
• When you have shopped till you're ready to drop, visit the Fairechylde to recharge your batteries and have a great time! 
• The DJs and hosts all donate their time and talents to raise funds for Relay for Life and they do a heck of a job!

• Occasionally I get to host for the DJs. All genres of music are played and it can be fun, crazy, mellow, romantic, energizing, and thought provoking depending on the DJ's style and those in attendance. It is NEVER boring!

Fantasy Faire ~ Getting There

• Fantasy Faire opened yesterday at 12 noon slt. There were shouts of "Welcome Home" and the regions very quickly filled with people streaming in to enjoy what many consider the quintessential event of the SL year.
• It isn't unusual for those who have attended Faire in past years to tear up when they first arrive. Fantasy Faire is much more than just an event, it is a feeling, a dream and a promise that speaks to the heart of each creator and attendee.

Welcome home, Fairelanders!

• Seasoned Faire-goers know the drill: pick a region from those listed on the official WEBSITE. Teleport to the region you chose and find yourself surrounded by wonders!  There are 18 distinct regions featuring every kind of atmosphere from primeval forest to industrial and from brightly colorful to foreboding darkness. More information about each region is HERE.

• If you are new to SL or haven't visited Fantasy Faire before, it is tradition to start in Fairelands Junction. Here you'll find yourself on a bridge suspended between trees. In frames on either side of the bridge are portals to each of the regions. Touch a picture that looks interesting and be whisked away to explore that area.
• Junction is also home to a candle-lit memorial to those who have been lost to cancer. Purchase a candle, type a short note in the form that will pop up on your screen and save it. Others will be able to click your candle and read the message. The candles will be sent to their owners at the end of the Faire.

Fantasy Faire 2024 ~ Avalon

• Just the name "Avalon" invokes visions of magic. The Fantasy Faire region of Avalon certainly lives up to that expectation. It's also been the home to a couple of the biggest fund raising events for Relay for Life.

• The Jail and Bail for Alia Baroque found the Skincarver imprisoned by a huge dragon. Fairelanders expressed their desire to release him or allow the dragon to freeze him by purchasing limited edition skins available during the Jail & Bail.

• Alia was released and went on to put the finishing touches on the region-wide hunt, which kicked off with a magical summoning featuring DJ Haze. Quotes from Excalibur flew fast and furiously while Fairelanders danced to raise the power of the land.

• I spent my time at the Avalon Ritual dancing in air while wearing items available in the Samsara region. Sometimes things just work out that way!

Fantasy Faire 2024 ~ Fairelands Junction

"So tell me about Fantasy Faire. Somebody said there are something like 20 regions. I wouldn't even know where to start."

• If you don't know where to start, it is tradition to start in Fairelands Junction.   
• It isn't unusual for those who have attended Faire in past years to tear up when they first arrive. Fantasy Faire is much more than just an event. Welcome home, Fairelanders!

• Close to the landing point you can join the Fantasy Faire Fans group and pick up a HUD that will allow you to teleport easily from region to region. You can walk or fly from region to region, of course, but most folks find the teleport hud to be a godsend after a few hours of walking. A familiarity with Junction will prove very helpful to you later on, but more about that when the time is right...
  
• At Junction you will find portals representing the various regions. See a picture that looks intriguing? Touch it and you will find yourself whisked there immediately.
• Turn to the north and find yourself on a winding path through the verdant countryside. Niches in the wall hold Memorial Candles to illuminate the darkness in memory of those who have fought the battle against Cancer.
• Donate to RFL in memory of someone special by purchasing a candle for L$100. The candles will light the Memorial area for the duration of the Faire and then will be returned to you.
• Ahead on the path are Worldling displays showing proposed regions for future Faires, but for now you are on your way.
