• Find items for every occasion at the SL Renaissance Festival. Live your best Second Life using period clothing, props and decor to fit your dreams. Buying from the official kiosks means the merchant will donate 50-100% of the purchase price to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

• The SL Renaissance Festival ends October 1 with a Royal Gala from 12 noon - 3pm slt, but before the final event there is a full weekend of Shopping, Tournaments, Role Play and Entertainment.

• Wedding Altar and Floor Harp are from Mythmaker *. Both items have a variety of very well animated poses. The Altar has a choice of decor for a number of spiritual practices as well as seasonal decor and includes animated poses for the Bride, Groom and an officiator.

• The Festival Tree in the background moves slightly as the breeze rustles the leaves. Ground flowers, pastel flags and twinkle lights add to the celebration. Low LI and can be resized from Lunaria *.

When you purchase from the official Vendors, the merchant will make a donation of 50 -100 % of the purchase price to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

I meandered along through the late summer sunlight looking for the boards I wanted to try and enjoying a live performer sing. Since all donations go to Strides against Breast Cancer, even if I don't win, I still feel like a winner!

• Nothing says "Knight" quite so clearly as someone wearing a suit of plate armor. If you haven't taken the opportunity to attend a combat event at the SL Renaissance Festival, you're missing a lot of fun! Jousting is just one of the combat forms you'll find at the event. 
• Check the schedule HERE to find a combat event that interests you. 

• The combatants are all friendly and encouraging of their opponents.  From the good-natured jesting, it was obvious that they'd ridden against each other many times before.

• Skill and timing (and avoiding lag) count more than size. All competitors have an equal chance of taking the day and on this first day, the competition was won by a Lady. Those pieces that look like toothpicks in the pictures above are bits of broken lance from a double hit and both riders were rocked back in their saddles from the force of the blows. People can be unhorsed too, but my camera wasn't fast enough to catch anybody hitting the ground. 
• The watchers were encouraged to donate L$50 to Strides Against Breast Cancer every time there was a good strike, so the combatants were being particularly ardent.

• At the end of the joust, the winners receive a trophy and bragging rights and may end up buying a round for the runners up at the local tavern. Tomorrow they will fight again.

SL Renaissance Festival Sept 22 - Oct 1

• It is time for the 4th Annual SL Renaissance Festival, Coming Home. The Festival opens September 22 and closes October1. 

• If you enjoy Role-Playing in such lands as Arthurian England, Game of Thrones, Renaissance Italy, Spain, France or in the Scandinavian lands, don't miss this opportunity to demonstrate your fighting prowess, to Shop for authentic castle and farm decor and to find amazing garb of all sorts. 

• It's also a lot of fun for those who only come for the turkey legs! There will be special events involving the Lindens, lots of Live Entertainment and a Hunt!

• There are 3 regions to explore with more than 60 merchants' shops, a large Minstral's area for music and dance and one region dedicated to such skills as jousting, sword play and archery. If you don't practice these arts yourself, come cheer for your favorite fighter!

• Merchants are donating 50-100 % of their sales to Strides Against Breast Cancer. Look for the special Vendors in the shops. A pink frame indicates 100% donation; a white one is 50%.  You can also donate directly to kiosks throughout the lands to show your support.

A Night at the Club

• There was a party @ Designer Showcase the other night. Three amazing women belted out jazz, blues and even a little country to an appreciative audience in a private club at the Designer Showcase location. The thing is, unless you are a member of the Designer Showcase group, you probably didn't hear about it. 
• I took today's blog pictures in the club after everybody else left.
