Jousting @ the SL Renaissance Festival

If you haven't taken the opportunity to attend a combat event at the Renaissance Festival you're missing a lot of fun! 

Thursday 12 noon - 3pm slt you can even see combat between some of the Lindens and the Moles against anyone who wants to try it. Participation fees all go to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

I attended the Dragon Lance Jousting Tourney on a couple of different days when my husband was competing.  The combatants are all friendly and encouraging of their opponents and it was obvious that they'd ridden against each other many times before. 

Skill and timing (and avoiding lag) count more than size and all competitors have an equal chance of taking the day. Those pieces that look like toothpicks in the picture above are bits of broken lance from a double hit and both riders were rocked back in their saddles from the force of the blows. People can be unhorsed too, but my camera wasn't fast enough to catch anybody hitting the ground.

At the end of the contest the top four received trophies. My husband came in second and I was very honored that he carried my favor onto the field and fought well.

As a well-seasoned pirate, I, of course, know where to find the finest entertainment at any port. My ship docked on the SE corner of SL Ren Fest III and I knew I would be well satisfied with the minstrels and bards I would find at the Minstrel's Corner. 

SL Renaissance Festival offers a variety of entertainment for all tastes. SL's finest Live Performers and DJs have donated their time and talent to raise funds in support of Strides Against Breast Cancer. Check the schedules HERE to see when your favorites will appear

Fantasy Gay Pride 2021: The Tarot draws to a close Sunday @ with a presentation by Oasis Dancers @ 12 Noon slt. Everyone is invited to attend this performance in the Oasis Theater above the main sim.

It is time once again for the SL Renaissance Festival. 

Here you will find Merchants galore, Entertainment, Tourneys, Hunts, Classes, Tales of Heroes and much MORE, all to benefit the American Cancer Society and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer .

I started my journey @ Welcome Center I. At the Welcome Centers one can begin to feel the excitement of the events to come. There are kiosks to provide garb if you have nothing to wear, as well as direct tps to various locations throughout the Festival. I walked, but it is possible to jump directly to different activities from the boards around the square.

Being an experienced Festival attendee, I availed myself of one of the Teegle Horses from a booth I passed. I knew a mount would get me from one spot to another faster than I could walk and he was a lovely companion as I wandered through the merchant's area and over to the ACS Joust Arena, but that is a story for another day...

What are you doing this weekend?

• Fantasy Gay Pride 2021: the Tarot Opens today. The goal of Fantasy Gay Pride is to encourage acceptance of all healthy forms of sexual expression and presentation with an emphasis on SL residents who prefer the Fantasy life. Time to break out your wings, tails, horns and pointy ears and join the fun.

• FGP2021 offers 22 unique builds on two regions all themed around the Major Arcana. I built 3 of the areas you might see in the Halls of Story. SL residents of all sexual orientations are invited to drop in till Sept 26 to enjoy the entertainment, relax, take some pictures and do the HUNT! 
• Magic mirrors like the one shown in the picture take you from one island to the other, otherwise be prepared to swim, fly or take one of the elven boats across!

•  Fashion Essentials Event till September 29
•  Many of your favorite designers have goodies in the Fashion Essentials shopping area and are offering one item @ 50% off. I wore one of the sale outfits as I was running around doing last minute trouble shooting for FGP.

Offering you a sneak peek of the soon-to-open Fantasy Gay Pride 2021: the Tarot. 

There are 22 unique areas, each based on the cards in the Major Arcana. I'm using the Tower as the background for today's photo shoot.

This festival to celebrate LGBTQ+ lifestyles with a fantasy flare is in its 12th year and will run from Sept 17 - 26. There will be lots of live music, DJ dances, photo opportunities, a full Mer sim and a 2-region Hunt. The event opens Friday @ 1pm slt. There are no sales at this event, but lots of FREE gifts.

Paris Holiday

Paris is the City of Lights, the perfect location for budding artists and photographers. 

I walked Les Champs Elysees to take my pictures. It was rather cloudy but still beautiful! 

I almost got run over by a streetcar because I was looking through my camera instead of watching where I was going.

Have you tried the newest look in SL? After a decade and a half of having buxom bosoms, the last year or so has seen a growing interest in petite or perky sizes. The change will require an addition to your mesh body and not every brand is rigged for them, but more bodies are being released all the time, so you might want to give the look a try.
