Fantasy Gay Pride ~ Day 7

Day 7 of Fantasy Gay Pride finds us setting out along the yellow brick road in search of good music.
We'll find it in the Land of Oz. Just follow the yellow bricks next to Professor Marvel's wagon from the Reception area. You can't miss it!

Keep your eyes open for Stars along the way. Pick up some of the HUNT prizes as you go.

4 pm SLT Live music performance ~ Keeba Tammas

Keeba Tammas is one of the finest female vocalists in Second Life. A professional vocalist for many years, Keeba is a seasoned performer in SL as well. From the first song to the last she delivers a power packed punch ... performing her songs with tremendous energy and shear raw talent. Her backup band, The Tiny Maniacs add to the fun for a zany, high energy performance.

5 pm SLT Live music performance ~ Quartz

Quartz is a singer and multi-instrumentalist with many years experience as a RL semi-professional musician. Quartz is also a songwriter and has composed numerous of his own original songs. His genre is an eclectic range of classic, progressive & indie rock. Quartz' powerful rich voice will grip any aficionado of these genres. This coupled with his witty, albeit slightly bent, sense of humor creates a show that is highly entertaining.

Fantasy Gay Pride ~ Day 6

Ladies and Gentlemen, please direct your attention to the center ring where the amazing Mirah McGuire is DJing under the Big Top!

It's all about fun today! Come to the Fantasy Gay Pride Star Circus and dance from 5-7 pm SLT. There will be usual mischief, mayhem, nonsense and shenanigans we've come to expect at one of Mirah's dances. A Mirah set is always an upbeat, fun filled and musically rich experience.

Fantasy Gay Pride ~ Day 5

It's Max-imum Tuesday today @ Fantasy Gay Pride 2017

1 pm slt Wolfgang Glinka, Chiaroscuro's Poet Laureate will share his own works and invites all attending to read something of their own or a favorite poet's works during Wolfie's Poetry Surf. Come and listen or participate. If you're too shy to read aloud in voice, someone else will be glad to read for you.

2 pm slt Maxx Sabretooth
Maxx Sabretooth has the kind of voice that makes you stop and listen. His bluezy tone and R&B style will grab your attention. His love of music is evident in every note he sings.
Maxx has been entertaining in SL since 2009 and sings a variety of styles. He especially enjoys R&B, Soul, Pop, Light Rock, Jazz, Motown and even some Contemporary Country! Come enjoy Maxx, and he will leave you wanting more!

3 pm slt Maximillion Kleene
Maximillion Kleene, recipient of 11 Avi-Choice Awards in multiple categories including Favorite Male Performer, has been amazing his audiences since 2007.
His dynamic musical range and smooth acoustic groove "Max-imizes" tunes ranging from CCR to Foo Fighters; from Train to Jason Mraz.
Streaming from Niagara Falls Canada, Max provides his fans with an hour of musical magic and brings a vast repertoire of quirky, classic, and current covers to Second Life.

Fantasy Gay Pride ~ Day 4

Though most of the activities at Fantasy Gay Pride are just for fun, there is also a serious aspect to this year's festival. One of our goals is to raise consciousness of some of the challenges that have faced by GLBTI people in the past and which continue to this day.

A visit to Trust mountain will give you food for thought and cause you to reflect on how far we have come, yet how far society still has to go.

Visit Bletchly Park to find more about Alan Mathison Turing, the father of computer science and the man whose machine broke the "Unbreakable" code during WWII. You won't believe what happened to him after the war!
Find your way though a challenging maze designed to make you aware of some of the aspects of behaving responsibly in relationships.

Stand in front of the judge in the Old Bailey Courthouse to learn your fate as a Gay person living in England between 1920 and 1960.

Fantasy Gay Pride ~ Day 3

Today (August 27) brings a full slate of entertainment to visitors at Fantasy Gay Pride 2016

Whinge & Pluckett take the stage @ 1pm SLT.
How do we describe a Whinge & Pluckett show? A little music, a little dance, a lot of rye humor and the irrepressible cross dressing drag queens who bring the show to you.
You just have to see this to believe it!
To be held in the cabaret room of the Stars Theater

Following Whinge & Pluckett, guests are invited to show their own stuff in our grid-infamous Cross-Dress Dance 2pm-4pm SLT. The challenge for this year's costume contest is to represent your favorite star of the opposite sex, so Girls will be Boys and Boys will be Girls, which is also the theme for our rockin' DJ Laz Dressler. If you don't have a costume but still want to come and have a great time dancing, it's all good.

Rounding out the day's activities will be a Live Music performance by Gabriel da Silva @ 6 pm SLT. He is an awesome performer and will rawk your socks off!
Warning: this will undoubtedly be a wild show. Gab kind of specializes in that. The SL Events calendar wouldn't accept my event listing for this show because it automatically tagged Gab as doing an "A" show and we're on a "M" sim. Consider yourself warned ... or invited ... whichever applies.

Fantasy Gay Pride Day 1

Fantasy Gay Pride 2017 "Stars of the Stars" got underway yesterday (August 25) with a poetry reading by Wolfgang Glinka, a dance in the main reception area with DJ Adz and a Space themed party in the Jules Verne Imaginarium with DJ Astoria Luminos.

Glitter and Glam

How do you outshine a really glitzy theater? Easily, thanks to Designer Showcase and DP Koffin Nails.
The dress from Albino Peacock, the skin from Avada, the jewelry from Chop Zuey and the shoes from Lindy are available @ Designer Showcase till August 31. The Moroccan Chic Koffin Nails are available @ Genre. I love the way the colors all work with the gown!

I'm waiting at the Star's Theater at Fantasy Gay Pride, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to be patient.
The festival opens @ 1pm August 25.

I'll just go upstairs to the Grapes Pub and hang out.
I can have sandwiches and play dominoes until it's time for the sim to open. Or I can do the hunt. Look! There's a star. I'll bet it has a free gift in it!

Duet

There's been a lot of celebrating the anniversary of the original Woodstock this week. Max Yasgur said it best,
"... the important thing that you’ve proven to the world is that a half a million kids — and I call you kids because
I have children that are older than you are — a half million young people can get together and have three days of fun and music and have nothing but fun and music, and I – God Bless You for it!”

The dream is still there for many of us. Time to dust it off and make it real again. "Come on people, now, smile on your brother. Everybody get together. Time to Love one another right now!"

Tropical Treasures

When I put together an outfit, I usually start with the clothes and add the accessories. In this case, I did it the other way around. I love this jewelry from Chop Zuey! The rich, weighty pieces just scream "pirate treasure". There is a skull in the center of each of the crosses. The jet cabochons, pearls and accent jewels combine with the antique gold to make pieces that can be dressed up or down as desired.

I paired it with the Abianne outfit by Evolve. The blue version reminded me of a cool tropical pool deep in the jungle, so of course I chose to do this blog shoot in the jungle section of Fantasy Gay Pride. There's a nice pool here with a water fall and a very interesting statue nearby that you might want to check out.
Fantasy Gay Pride 2017 opens August 24. I'll be telling you a lot more about it in the next couple of weeks.

Farewell to Babylon

While RL just keeps getting crazier and crazier, many of us find solace in SL. We come to rely upon certain people and places that we can only reach by logging into this wonderful alternate reality.
Unfortunately, one of the long-standing institutions of SL passed quietly into the waves this week.
We sent Provincetown on its way in the same way it appeared so long ago, with a beach party.

Provincetown and Babylon had been a mainstay in SL for eleven years. The oldest gay sim in SL is now only a memory of friendly people, laughter, dancing, rogue trivia balls, true caring and people working together to make the world a better place.
We will miss it.

For many of us, going to Babylon to hang with friends was a weekly, if not daily habit. We've laughed together, cried together, become more politically aware, fought prejudice, hunger, cancer and other faceless terrors that impact people's lives and generally just felt at home in Provincetown. Thanks to Dill, Gettie, Krysis, Mirah and all the others who made it possible for the rest of us to enjoy the Babylon lifestyle for so long. We wish you well and we'll see you around the grid because we know you'll find other ways of making the world a better place.
