Remember video arcades? There was always a slightly sordid and disreputable feeling about sitting in the dark and watching the colored markers move around the screen as the machine beeped and buzzed happily. Video arcades have become a rarity since every tv and phone provides a variety of video games. I'm not sure whether we should be glad or sad about that. Returning to a former hangout brought a feeling of nostalgia that I hadn't expected.

For those times when you just want to be comfortable while still looking good, this casual outfit from AnaStyle comes with top and shorts sold separately, in a fat pack, or as the set shown here which includes one top, one pair of shorts and the shoes. This is just one of the EXCLUSIVES to be found at this month's Designer Showcase*.

I paired it with items from a couple of my favorite designers who are participating @ the Attic Event till August 22. My earrings are from Mini A Chuu and my nails are from Mani Pedi, whose shops just happen to be neighbors at the event .

Chuu's new earrings come with a user-friendly hud to change metals, crystals and beads. She had me testing them for her as she perfected them, so I'm happy to tell you they are beautiful and really will go with everything! The small rotating crystals you'll see in the display are resized examples of the Crystal of Adxina, which can be used as a photo prop, a meditation tool, or just as a really cool decoration on your sim. The Swotusmatiz Stronghold (aka: gingerbread castle) in the display is a unique tabletop gaming item. Read the description carefully ~ there's a lot of stuff included!

The Mani Pedi display features several of the latest releases from both the Nailz and the LSD Couture sections of the store. I use Mani Pedi frequently in my blogs and did a blog on the newest featured items HERE. The polish vendors are tricksy: touch the Mani Pedi box or vendor to select the correct polish for your mesh body type, then click again to pay.

Happy July 4

July 4th is coming up. It's a special day for those living in the US. We like to celebrate the fact that we don't do anything quite like those living in any other country, but it should also be a time to remember that we didn't get here without a lot of help. The contributions of peoples from throughout the world and down through many centuries went into creating the American dream of Independence, Liberty and Equality. 

 

The US has taken some major hits in recent months and many of us are feeling a little off balance. Hopefully, the upcoming holiday will be a time to reflect on the things that really matter: Family and friends, Freedom from tyranny, Working together for the good of all, Respect for others' feelings, beliefs and traditions... the list goes on and on.

As you light your sparklers this weekend, say a little prayer that together we can come though the darkness and make the world a better and brighter place for everyone, then decide how you personally can go about making that happen.
