Laissez les bons temps rouler!

There is a wonderful virtual Mardi Gras event that my friends and I have attended every year for the last 7 years. The RL parade has been canceled this year, but you still have a great time in SL New Orleans.

You can stand along the street and wave at the floats as they go by or you can ride on the floats and become part of the magic! Just turn off your AO and sit on any of the floats and you will recieve any props or costume items associated with that particular float and be activated to dance, play an instrument, tumble or whatever the float requires. 

My friends and I like to ride a float from the starting point all the way down the street till it disappears, then we run back to the starting point and do it with another float. The parade itself has 103 floats and lasts about an hour and a half. There is almost no lag if everyone goes low prim and without unnecessary huds.

While you're there, check out the rides at the amusement park, the clubs and the little shops along the street. Most of them have really well done scenerios and some have free goodies.

The parade ends at the end of Mardi Gras, which is Februay 16, so don't miss it!

Living Art

The Glinka Gallery has a new exhibit of works by Idrial Ghost entitled Lockdown Botanica. 

Idrial is an artist, illustrator, painter and 3D mesh designer. His work is mainly inspired by plants, organic forms and what he sees around him. He uses his eye for detail to create intricate paintings and illustrations using the soft qualities of watercolour to capture and replicate texture and pattern. 

There's always something new at the Glinka Galleries and there are frequent dances and shows. Drop by for a look at the lastest in virtual art!
