As the northern hemisphere turns toward the sun again, we must remember that if there were no darkness, there would be no need for light. Ostara's Altar celebrates the darkness found in the light and provides a shopping experience for those of us who embrace the OTHER.
Without getting all entangled in a complicated discussion, suffice it to say that the word for the spring celebration Ēostre [Old English] or Ostara [Old High German] comes from the name of a German goddess of the dawn, who was honored as the sun returned in the spring and whose symbols were eggs and rabbits.
As the world warms, I raise my hands in thanks to the powers of Earth and Sky, which bring forth life and which welcome us home when our work is done.
