Wednesday in New Orleans

While looking for fun things to do, I went over to the Hunt Headquarters and saw a listing for a Tarot Hunt.
I collect tarot cards, so it seemed like something I would enjoy. I did...immensely! Not because of the prizes, but because of the delightful sim.

If you've always wanted to go to New Orleans, you need to visit New Toulouse. You can start right here in Lafitte's Old Primsmith Bar. I'd like to say I started my blues career here, but the only one in the audience was a lobster that kept flipping over on his back and playing dead when I hit the high notes.

At least I look the part in this lovely gown from Ana Markova. Since there are vodouns who might take offense at my terrible singing, I have protective sigils from Carol G tattooed on my spine.

Windows on the World with Designer Showcase

Windows on the World is a memorial club dedicated to those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks. It is modeled on the Windows on the World club that was once on top of the north tower of the World Trade Center.

Formal attire is requested in the club. Though this dress from Purple Moon, available now @ Designer Showcase is more a cocktail dress than a gown, I felt quite comfortable dancing and taking in the view.

This one is the one that all the other gacha events emulate and rumor has it that this round may be the last one, so be sure to visit. Lots of gachas of all sorts for fantasy lovers, Goreans and belly dancers.

If you like a challenge while shopping, try WWP.
Each shop is on a floating island and you must fly a broom, dragon, flying carpet or tp hud [L$1 @ the event] to go from shop to shop. The challenging part is getting from one shop to the other with a huge invisiprim box in the middle of the build, but they had to protect the fairy tale castle some way, I suppose. The goods aren't fantasy, but I am very pleased with my dragon.

The great escape

There I was, minding my own business... just taking a few pictures of this cute outfit from Blossom featured @ Fusion 101... when suddenly this guy appears out of nowhere asking for my help.
It was like a scene from a movie: "My name is Tom. You have to help me! They're going to kill me!"

I listened to Tom's story and agreed that he did have a problem, so we hatched a plan.
I hopped on my trike, he jumped in the basket and we escaped to safety.
I met his wife, Henrietta, and all the little Toms. I now have a whole flock of new friends.

You never know who you might meet in SL and the day can always be an adventure when you're open to the possibilities.

A night on the town

After seeing it on the Avi's Choice Award list, I decided to check out New York - New York Piano Bar.
It's an interesting place to visit and probably a good place to take a date, though it was empty except for a bunch of bots on the Friday night that I visited it.

I arrived to find myself surrounded by paparazzi, who seemed excited to see me. I was notified in chat that I needed to wear formal attire. I think I more than qualified in this outfit from Designer Showcase. The hostess was either a bot or afk, so I just walked in and checked out the place.

The club description said that live singers were featured, but Dean Martin was crooning on the stream while I was there.  I sat at the bar with Joe the Bartender and watched the half dozen or so members of the band (bots...I think) play big band numbers.

It's definitely a well done sim and probably would be a lot of fun for a date. Now I need to add a gentleman who likes big band music and I'll be all set!

I'm excited to have been asked to blog for SL's newest shopping experience, Fusion 101.
This event features items from popular designers at REALLY reasonable prices. Most are L$101 or less (clever how that works, isn't it?).  For the grand opening, many of the designers are offering group gifts. There are two shopping islands decorated in lovely frosty trees and a park with interesting photo props.

The Kara tank and jacket can be worn separately, but work really well together. The set is a special edition for Fusion 101; 16 other colors are also available.

Messin' about in boats

I went over to the Blake Sea with the idea of learning to sail my yacht. There are areas where you can rez a boat and try your seamanship.

After capsizing and ending up on the bottom of the ocean several times, I decided I'd better stick to being a passenger and leave the sailing to those with more patience and a sense of direction, but at least I looked good thanks to Designer Showcase.

Weekend of November 5

To be very honest, I go to Chapter 4 for the gachas. However, since there are three rooms of clothing, hair and household accessories between the landing point and the gacha room,
I usually find something I have to have along the way. If you're looking for something unique, this is the place to be.

A new event targeting witches and other magic users. They wisely decided to wait till after Halloween to hold the grand opening so that it wouldn't get lumped in with all the wanna be magic events. Lots to see and purchase with a few gachas on a lovely dark sim. The picture was taken on the +Coven sim with a little animated tome that I picked up along the way.

A plethora of gachas with everything from virtual pets to clothing to jewelry. Rates are less than L$100 and most seemed to be in the L$35 - L$50 range. Some nice free gifts for group members.
I'm shown here with items from +Aii's gacha, the Traveler. The portals, which are teleport huds, are COMMON, the cloak and charms hanging down the back are RARE.
